I have not posted here in quite a while. A "new" baby (now 2) has limited my fishing adventures of late. Some of you may remember the videos I made of our little family fishing, and I have recently gotten some footage that is just too cool.
I became interested in underwater video through the old Jacque Cousteau documentaries on television way back in the '70's. It has always been an interest of mine, but typically, the equipment used costs a small fortune. Through some luck and a little ingenuity, I have figured out a relatively low cost solution to the underwater video.
After goofing around with some defective equipment, and spending almost a year to get it perfected, I got what I was originally after...Some unreal, up close and personal footage of some very large trout in their natural habitat.
Exhibiting some pre spawn behavior, there are two "stars" to this video. A male (notice the developing kype and hump on his back) and a female. These two I would conservatively estimate at 18", in a tiny creek that flows well only seasonally.
This after I had been able to get only bits and pieces of mostly smallish trout and fry in the preceding year.
Anyway,
here is the link It runs about 3 minute, with sound and 25mb. I have a longer version (12 min) at
Google Video. This is a pretty cool service, you can upload your videos for free, it streams right away, so you don't have to wait. Also available for Mac.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I did making it.
