San Francisco and Suisun Bay Reports
SAN FRANCISCO: Stone said potluck trips have been getting much better action lately, especially on striped bass. Out of Emeryville on Monday, the New Huck Finn and Captain Hook reported in with collectively 45 striped bass to 10 pounds and 10 halibut to 19 pounds for their combined 23 anglers aboard.. Best areas have been around Paradise and Red Rock.
SUISUN: Jordona Santiago of Martinez Bait and Tackle reported good fishing from the Mothball Fleet again this week. Sturgeon are still going strong with grass and ghost shrimp. Schoolie-sized stripers are being caught but none of any size have been reported. Alex Borja of El Sobrante caught a 63-inch, 65-pound sturgeon at the second row of ships (from the West) on a grass and ghost shrimp combination, Frank Murray of San Pablo caught a 62-inch, 54.1-pound sturgeon from the second row as well on a grass/ghost shrimp combo and Mike Dunlayy of Stockton caught a 45.8-pound, 60-inch sturgeon at the first row of ships on grass shrimp. Stephen Wright of Pleasant Hill caught the hawg of the week, a 70-pound, 68-incher on a ghost and grass shrimp combo. Gary Feddersen of Martinez caught a 60-inch, 50-pound sturgeon at the Iowa on grass shrimp. That's where his wife, Mary, caught her 51-inch, 30-pound sturgeon. Doug Parker of Martinez caught a 65-inch, 61.5-pound sturgeon at Buoy 2 on grass shrimp.
