First Annual HookupSportfishing.com Saltwater Opener - UPDATE!!!

THREAD CLOSED

FOR LATEST CHARTER INFO GO HERE

UPDATE!!!

Ok everyone here is the information.

When:
06/13/2004

Price:
$70.00

Anything free?:
You know it! HookupTackle.com has graciously offered free prizes! We may also have additional sponsors coming along for the ride offering some AWESOME giveaways and tackle to try out. Still working those details.

Where:
PierPoint Landing - 200 Aquarium Way, Long Beach, CA 90802

What time:
Still getting those details, but probably 6(7)am - 5pm

Kind of fish:
We have gotten the word on whatever is biting, so if its white sea bass and yellowtail, we are going for them. It may be limits of bass and barracuda. Weather reports suggest more warming so bigger better fish keep moving closer. Anyone read WON or the boards recently? WO WSB and a good bite on yellows.

What to bring:
Depends, but I would suggest a 15lb test setup, and maybe a 20. I will be bringing some 12lb for calicos, but that's me. You have to remember this is the ocean. Fishing the bottom for calicos could result in everything from a Calico to a yellowtail or a halibut. Fun stuff. Bring your license!

Tackle
Bring 1/0, 2/0 and maybe some smaller live bait hooks. Some small sliding sinkers. I would definetly bring some dropper weights, 3 ounce should work, but what may help is calling a local landing and asking how much weight they have been using for fishing dropper loop on the bottom. Sometimes 3 ounces isnt enough, but usually it is. If you normally fish saltwater bring some swim baits, and some iron. Remember that white sea bass love white deep Iron with the Red S. Tady 45's or so. Barracuda love blue and chrome, and yellowtail are Scrambled egg and dorado, though yellows love white and blue and chrome as well. If you have any questions about it, hit me up. I can help you out.

We are going with a max of 30 guys for a VERY comfortable trip. This means it cost us a bit more, but its worth it to have a lot more fun. Plus this trip is all of the guys from the board so more mutual respect.

Fish cleaning will be available for an additional charge, probably not much at all, but not sure the exact cost. Usually $1.00 - $2.00 per fish, for a fully filleted fish. There will be a full galley that we ask you guys parttake of at least a little (so Jon and I dont have to pay for it lol)

Any questions feel free to PM me. I have reupdated the numbers so we still have spots available.

A number by the name is the number of people coming with them.

Right now we are working out all of the details. We MAY have to move it to a later date, but if we need to do that, we will have some AWESOME things going on. I won't let the cat out of the bag, because Jon would kill me.

As far as landings, we are most likely looking at one of the LA/Long Beach boats, however we are still looking at Newport landing as well. We want the ability to fish San Clemente or Catalina.

If you are taking votes I would suggest Newport Landing for a half day or 3/4 day because their boats are much less crowded even on weekends. If we get enough people to charter I dont know who to use because I have never been on a charter before...either way FISHING BABY!

CST
We are looking at the LA boats, as they are usually less expensive for the charters, however, its because they have much farther to go to fish so it means less fishing time, but again we are working out those kind of details. We may just get a group discount and we can all head out for less money and since there will be so many of us we will basically have the boat to ourselves

Ok I will add that in there. We tried to get it lower, but we had a major sponsor back out that was going to pick up the tab, because they couldn't come on that short of a notice. We might get one for August as well, but we will get this one done first
