Huntington Harbor/Anahiem Bay

Looks like I will try my first float tube outing on the saltwater tomorrow, I am fishing 6 and 8 pound line and taking several plastics to play with. I dont think I will take any bait the first time out, just going to keep it simple. I will start from the beach at the end of Edinger since its a large area and I have caught there from shore before. I am taking my car so I dont want to have to move if I dont have to...When I am done I am going to rinse my Navigator and my waders with fresh water, does any one have any other maintenance or tackle suggestions for me?

Good luck on your first saltwater float tube excursion! I suggest you wear or at least take a life jacket with you. Also, maybe take some kastmasters and some small iron like the mini action-lures. Let me know how it goes. Good luck!

Check the tides! You want to work with the current, especially in HH. Don't kick up current. Fish down current and plan the next tide so you'll be pushed back from where you launched. Never leave a bait/lure in the water and lay you rod down on your tube. You'll get bit when you least expect it. Plus you don't want to drop your tackle in the water. Keep your lures and hooks in those small clear plano tackle boxes. If you have any question feel free to send me a PM. I've done a lot of floating tubing the local, bays, harbors, and from the surf.

Just make sure that you have a secure place to keep all of your stuff. Dont have your lap as your rod holder.

Thanks all...I have excellent rod holders from Cabela's and I know I should wear a life vest but I dont have one yet...I am going to get one of those iflatable ones that dont look so dorky. I also spent the morning Wednesday filling several small Plano boxes with various plastics, grubs and swimbaits. I am also going to try downshotting some Storm minnows I have. I will post a report Thursday night or Friday...
