its basicly a big trebble hook with a huge weight attached to the shank. well, thats a pier gaff but a muscle gaff is the samething except it has spikes surrounding it instead of 3 hooks

nope its designed to pull the mussel of the pillings of a pier. i think your thinking of either a gaff or a billy stick.

Oh I am thinking of just a gaff then, I know what a billy stick is and I was reading about the gaff today in a mag.

pier gaffs cant pull out muscles, trust me, ive tried and lost a 14 dollar gaff.

o i was talkin bout the mussel gaffs. i know what ya mean ive seen alot of people loose their gaffs(the treble ones) trying to get mussel lol

cause the tackle shop owners lie. i went in and asked for a muscle gaff and that was what they gave me, so i assumed that it was for prying muscles. i wouldnt have been as pissed off as i was if i had lost it while knowing it wasnt a muscle gaff.

Just have a person who weld make you one. Most people I know that use them have someone that custom do it. Also make you have chain from gaff and then add what ever amount of thick rope end of it. Hope this help in your question.
