Well today we went on another drive down to the city of Kenai. About a 3 hour drive. Today it was supose to be sunny but it was cloudy and rainy, kind of a weird weather, the sun would shine through a little then cloud up and rain a bit off and on.
We stopped down at Portage Glacier but there was not anything to see. Next came what I had been wanting to see for a while, the world famous Kenai River. I saw a bunch of lodges allover along the river it was really cool. I saw some pontoon boats going down and a few kayaks, that was pretty cool. The water was a dark green blue color, a lot from the snow melt. A couple of the pontoon guys had their fly rods, didnt ask to see if they caught anything though.
That is a beautiful river. I hope to head back this summer. My biggest king is 76lbs from there. That must be a nawesome rainbow and olly varden river, because we kept foul hooking so many by back trolling them. One time my rod was slightly bent for a while. Eventually convinced the guide we needed to check it. There was a foul hook 2lb dolly varden stuck to it First king run hould be coming up soon.
Yeah I cant wait until they start running, I am going to have so much fun and a bunch of salmon in the freezer hopefully. I am going to bring some eggs to my dads in oregon this summer also. I cant wait to hook a big bow on my fly rod!!!
