Plans for a Carp Fishing Tournament
I, with the help of a few of the members; Jimmy(Umoa) and Halibutseeker have been dicussing the possibilites of putting together an official HUSF.com Carp Fishing Tournament. We had been discussing it in a thread about Lake Elsinore and thought Lake Elsinore may be a great arena for a good Carp fishing tournament.
After discussing this with some other experienced Carp anglers, we feel that Elsinore, though a great Carp fishery, is too restricting when it comes to lake privelges.
Probably the best southland lake and most renknowned carp fishery in SoCal is Lake Peris It's less restricting and gives anglers as well as the entity planning a tournament much more freedom to do so, than Elsinore does.
Please post your thoughts about a Carp Fishing Tourney at Lake Peris and post if you would be interested in participating in a tournament invovling Carp....the worlds #1 freshwater sporting fish!
Looking forward to your ideas and discussions about this.

pros for elsinore: abundant carp
successful carp derbies held before
cons: smaller sized carp
pros for perris: bigger sized fish
cons: less amount of fish
off the top of my head. will edit etc when i think of more when i'm on break.

Castaic Lagoon is a great idea Chris, but the only thing is if it's the first time planning a certain tournament, I kinda like to have it be more centralized so we get more anglers there to experience the tournamant. Then when the first one is a success...the next one can be held anywhere because people know what they're going to get if they participate.
Peris is more centralized for everyone from Ventura County to San Diego County and it also holds the state record for Carp.

Too much private shoreline and the places that we could hold a tournament are too small in the areas that we could do it for free without having to involve the lake in the Tournament.

Is there going to be a carp leaderboard as well?

No, there isn't one at the moment. I was just planning to start with 2 freshwater and 2 saltwater leaderboards and see how they go. If people like them, we can expand and do more.

I don't know any thing about a leader board, but if there is it's not anything in conjunction with this tournament. It may be something Hook Up is doing in general.
Russ, would you be competing if a Carp Tournament was produced?
