Sac River at Kirksville
My neighbor went fishing with a few of his usual crew last night at about the only place they could find that wasn't under water. They had been there for about 20 minutes when Jerry, my neighbors brother inlaw, got a bell ringer. He reached out for his rod, set the hook and it was on! 40 minutes later and soaked from the waist down, he landed a white sturgeon, a 67" 85lb male. I happened to look out my front window in time to see the neighbor hoisting it up and tying it off on the rafters in his garage. They stayed out until 6 this morning with nothing more than a snag floating down the overly swollen river. From what I am hearing, that is one of 4 sturgeon caught in the last couple weeks. With all the rain and run-off up here, the Sac River is sitting very close to flood stage with no signs of dropping soon. That's all I have for now, will update as I find anything out!
