productive colors for trout
i was planning on buying some trout worms for my Green Valley Lake trip which is in a couple of weeks. i will be catching trout and maybe crappie(if i can locate them).
What colors work the best? ive tried the nightcrawler/natural colored berkley trout worms and those are the only ones ive caught fish with (lots of bass and crappie)

Orange, green, the two-tone green, white silver, and white gold are the best colors that I use. You are talking about Lip RipperZ, right?

I agree with Bryson. The wht/gold and Orange Lip RipperZ always seem to be the hot ticket for me at Green Valley Lake.

Trout magnents work well for small trout, in my opinion. But you can have the same results, if not better, with Lip RipperZ.

Wow, i cant believe i missed this post. Yea bryson hit the colors right on the spot. Chartruese, peral white, bright orange, yellow, etc. You can either spiltshot them, or put a jig head in them. Im not sure if you can buy them in the GVL area. I would just buy them online.

Actually, you can find them at http://www.hookuptackle.com we carry both the Lip RipperZ trout worms and, at the moment, are the exclusive dealers of trout ripperz! If you want colors we don't have up right now, we can get them. Just send us an email at sales@hookuptackle.com and let us know!

Make your own jigs and/or stingers...I buy Berkly power trout worms, some 1/64, 1/80 and 1/100 jig heads from a fly shop, powder coat them white, orange, chartruse brown etc cut the Power Worms in half and make your own little jigs. Or you can slide the power worm up a Trout Teaser type mini jig and make your own Trout Stinger. If you are only targeting larger fish you can make your own Lip Ripperz by getting some larger jig heads and buying some Gene Lerew Trout worms from Cabelas, they come in very large bags for a cheap price.

Hi everyone, Im new to the board and fairly new to fishing. I have tried using Lip Ripperz about 5 different times in different locations and have not had any luck. I think, make that, I know that Im not hooking them the right way. Anyone have any suggestions or tips on how to set them up? A couple of pictures would be really appreciated. I have read a couple of articles online on how to set them up, the problem is that I dont understand the terms used.
Thanks in advance.

You can find the pictures on how to rig them on the package. All three work equally as well, but you use them depending upon the lake, depth, fish, etc...But here they are:
Split shot (put a small split shot 2 feet above the hook):
Stick it on your favorite jig as a trailor:
Place it on a 1/32 or 1/64 ounce ball-head jig:
Or you can drop shot them just like you would for bass. In dropshot, you place the hook above the weight so you can give the worm more vertical action. Very good for fishing in the weeds because you can pull the worm above the weeds, while the weight is on the bottom, and therefore not get caught in the weeds. Sorry, no pic.
It is VERY important that you use 2lb test line in order so the fish don't see the line, you can give the worm more action, and you can feel bites easier.
