Pacifica Fish'less' report
Hey all, We went fishing yesterday around 5:30ish at Pacifica pier, I shoulda known when we were driving up and the waves were like 10 ft high and we wouldn't catch anything. But the maniac fantical fisherdood with me, who happens to be my boyfriend wanted to fish. We spent about 3 hours on that pier, no bites, no nibbles. Just waves that shook the pier.
We were using 4-6 size hooks and anchovies, squid, and lures and nothing. I think we asked people who were leaving if they caught anything and only one guy who said he caught something and it was just one kingfish. doh!
There were people there crabbing as well, I only saw one actual crab but then there was a naughty seal/sea lion in the water stealing bait. So I don't think any of us had any luck.
I think the best moment was when I was nudging my boyfriend's rod and making him think he had a fish. LOL. Like teasing a baby with candy! ahahah.

That's funny. Cold-blooded, but funny.

Hey Tanyah, Good report! Funny. What's this with the "kingfish"...you mean a White Croaker? that's the second time I've heard kingfish used in two days and it's freakin' me out.
You mean one of these:

No clue Tony, that's what I heard the guy say. But I've heard the term kingfish before when I use to live in so.cal. and my dad still owned a boat. I think they look like white croakers but from my understanding 'kingfish' is sort of a collective term for some different fish. I don't know, I just hook em and cook em.

Yeah, white croakers are sometimes called kingfish or so I'm told.......I've never called them that. I'm really wierd about needing to call fish by their IGFA common name.
Hook 'em and cook 'em babe!

Hey Tony: "kingfish, kingfish", now you've heard it 4 times in the past few days
IFGA, SMIFGA I use what I grew up with :P...although I do understand the standardization desire. But it's like Barracuda...here, you hunt barracuda...in Florida, barracuda may hunt you, especially if you drag your fingers or toes in the water, but they're still "barracuda"...
Tanyah: when I was diving, I'd be tempted to jerk on the lines of people...the only thing preventing me from doing it was the vision of a hook in my hand and some guy pumping his rod madly, and me not being able to find my knife...

That is so not funny in many ways. LOL. Are girls born with a gene that cause them to do that nasty cruel trick?
