Life Vest??

Do you have to have a life vest on when you are float tubing in harbors? Is it the law? Thanks.

It is the law, in freshwater also. They do not enforce it very much but it is always a good idea to have one whether you use it or not. There are just too many things that can happen when you are on the water. Better to be safe than sorry. (I have to admit that %90 of the time I don’t take mine. But I really should)

It’s a good idea to carry some sort of flash light with you also.

Well, mabye i'll try to get one. It would have to be one that also serves as a tackle vest, so i can put all of my supplies in it.

So basically Ken, if I float tube in the harbor w/o a life vest, people or the coast guard probabaly wouldn't care?

I would say it is kind of like riding a bike with no helmet. Most cops would not stop you but there are the few that will.

I would think as long as you are not to far away from land they will not bother you to much.

They have life vest that are just two thin strips (Kind of like suspenders) that are inflatable. They are probably the best for fishing because they are not bulky at all. I think some of the pro bass fisherman use them on tv. I don’t know if you have seen them or not.

These are just a few examples. You could probably find better deals other places

Fishing style vest

Inflatable
