corbina record

And while fly-fishing along the southern California U.S.A. coast, Dr. Wade Y. Yoshii, M.D., Manhattan Beach, Calif., landed a California corbina (Minticirrhus undulates) in five minutes weighing 3 lb 8 oz (1.58kg). He used16 lb tippet and a dui fly while making the early October catch at nearby Long Beach. The current record is 2lb 9 oz 11/7/01. The doctor documented, photographed and released it alive.

Sweet! Thanks for the article Umoa, very cool. We should stipulate that it's a California "fly" tackle record; not conventional tackle (casting or spinning). Conventional tackle record is more. Look at some of Anthony's(Sharkbait) corbina's....fatty's!

I'd say Cherry Beach within 120 yards from the little jetty for the following reasons;
1. there's not a lot of water movement which looks like Cherry Beach
-the breakwall really slows things down in low tide or slow breaks
2. there's skyscrapers reflecting off of the water
-there's skyscrapers everywhere and the image is blurry, but over there there are spots in which the skyscrapers can reflect off of the water
3. there's just a lot of corbina over there

However, I'm also going with Belmont Pier
1. The palm trees reflecting need to be close to the ocen and the ones by the bike path are close
2. Corbina by the pier have always had good reports.

Sorry it doesn't narrow it down for you
