Today was my final day of spring break. Overall, it was a good day. I went to Sports Authority, and bought myself a new "marked - down" Daiwa baitcasting rod for $14..lol....originally for $50. The only bad thing for today was the fishing. My expectations were higher for today, but the fishing turned out to be poor to modest. I was expecting to get into some bass with my artificials, but nothing.
I got to the creek at 3:45 and fished till 6. The main presentations that were used today were a stationary bobber w/ split shot, and pieces of waxworms. All fish were caught near fallen trees
PRESENTATION PICKS
On this set-up., I picked up 4 Green sunfish, 1 bluegill, and one weird fish. (Still having the "rough fishing" specialists identify this one)

A sample of what I was catching....I also took this guy home and he's living well with my bluegill & crappie. His name is Rodrigo...lol (check out my new fish pics)
Here's the type of water that I was really expecting to catch fish at....

Notice the boulders along shore.....There's a 5ft drop from the surface that leads to a hole.

Notice the eroded bank... Deeper water is nearby.

Slackwater pool - bottom is loaded with rocks, and logs.
Today, I did have one small surprise...

weird fish
I don't know exactly what this is, but i'm sure someone let this guy go from an aquarium. Maybe a Carp, maybe a "Barb" from Europe.. who knows. Peole do let go their pet fish into rivers and lakes in IL ..This guy was unexpectedly caught.
Right before I left, I had a nice chat with an old-timer who fishes the creek often. He said that the creek is just "shot". There's soap-sudded water, yet there are 7 Water Treatment plants along the 32 miles of the creek. There's still a ton of room for improvement in the creek.
TOTALS
---------
4 - Green Sunfish (one went to the aquarium)
1 - Bluegill
1 - weird fish
