Whip Finisher

i just bought a whip finisher and read a few instructions on how to use it and wow, it's complicated. anyone have an easy way of using the tool or should i stick to my old knot?

the line going to your bobbin is parallel to the hook shank, and stays free to move...it goes up to the spring thingy and then back down to the hook in the end of the tool, and this part of the thread is what you circle around the hook shank four or five times, then pull steadily on the bobin (keeping the spool light) so that the springy thingy gets closer to the fly. You can slip the line off the springy thingy and pull everything tight, so now all that extra line is on the bobbin side of the fly....or do a bunch of half-hitches and apply some zap-a-gap.

Cst it might be time for you to get a good pattern book. it will really help you. i know it is always a great help to me. i refer to mine everytime i tie a fly, just to make sure i understand how to do the pattern. And most of them give u info on how to use all the fly tying tools... mine is The fly-tying bible by peter gathercole.
