Another perch report 4-18
Fished the afternoon at one of the LA beaches in search of some corbina. Loaded my pockets full of sand crabs and went on walking and casting along the beach. For the first 30 minutes I went with out a single bite. I walked past another angler and from what I saw it was slow for him too. At the very first sign of the incoming tide the small perch wouldn't stay away from my crab. I spotted a couple of small corbs but they were only about 15'' so I didn't bother them. Conditions were great with no kelp in the water. As the tide kept rising I was still getting perch after perch. Out of no where masses of kelp came by and I was thinking * ok one more cast and I'll move down the beach* That's when I get hooked up and it's not a perch. As it gets closer I see a 19-20'' corbina and when it saw me it dashed for a piece of kelp the size of a dumpster. Guess what, I lost it after that. No way I could have got it out. 10 minutes after that no more kelp for the rest of the afternoon and more perch. Ended up with about 20 barred perch up to 10'' and a lost corbina
