A weekend Baja trip (maybe San Quintin)??

O.K., I have specific members in mind for this request, only because I know some of you wouldn't be able to go, but this offer is for anyone who can go.......

I'm thinking of planning a Panga trip down to the Punta Banda Peninsula {La Bufadora}(about 1/2 hour passed Ensenada)and we can rent a couple Pangas out of Vonny's Fleet.... or maybe even San Quitin (about 3 hours south of the boarder). I'm more familiar with the San Quitin landings and the Panga charters like "Don Eddie's sport fishing".

I think if we left on a Friday and drove down, we could get a couple days of fishing in; maybe one or two days of Panga charters and late afternoons from shore for Roosters (Sat/Sun)and then return Monday!!!!! It would be a really inexpensive trip to plan and we would get alot for the money we spend.

Members who I was thinking could make a trip such as this are the following:

Sinjin
Aftahour
Nirvana Fan
Jeff (Nick Vevet)
Eric (Crash)
James (jstcrzyengh)
Jerry (WreckinBall)
Ed (ehanno44)
Andrew (Cuban Fish)
Harold (Local Rookie)
Jon (Wahoo.....if he'd fly in from TX)
Matt (Mamoo)
Chris (CST)
Russ (Fish Slayer)
etc, etc.

What you guys think???? Late January, early Feb.???

God I wanna go so bad but I need to save my money for all the gear I am buying. Especially now that I found out the Accuframe I have is for a Penn 99 and I need to buy an Accurate spool for it which is $40.

Funny? Steve and I were thinking about heading down there in Feb. I believe Steve was considering going to some pangas in the Camalu area.

Work out some details and I'll see if time permits me to make it. I'll be in San Felipe in March, and Ensenada in June and November anyways

later, Eric

It doesn't have to be in January or Feb. The more I think about it, maybe March would be a better month, being the beginning of Spring and all. I post some price scenarios down below.........

I was actually thinking March would be a better month. Is San Felipe a for sure thing for you or could you modify it to be San Quintin? I hope Steve would be able to go to.

If we schedule it for Spring time (say March), could you do it? With at least 6 of us going, the cost would be so minimal. Check out the cost scenario in the post below....

O.k., really quick.....

let's say 6 of us went.

Pangas (20 to 25 footers) are about $170.00 per day with max load of 3 anglers ($20.00 each additional person).

If 6 of us go; we do 2 pangas for two consecutive days
...that's $340.00 per day - divide by 6, and that's roughly $50.00 each per day of fishing which totals out to $100.00 each for two full days of Panga boat fishing with max load of 3 anglers on each boat (includes bait).

Fish cleaning is $0.50 to $0.75 cents per fish and they freezer store it for you at no cost; they keep it until we pack up and go home.

$120.00 per day (times two days....total $240.00) for the condo rental and we can all stay in the same condo; divide by minumum 6 of us and thats $40.00 each for two nights of condo rental

I 'd say bring an additional $100 - $175 (which you probably won't even come close to spending) for food(which is so reasonably priced) / and to pitch in for gas and money for your souveniers and Knick Knacks, and you come out with a total of 4 day trip
with two full days of fishing for Sails, YT's, Roosters, big Calicos, Grouper, 'Cuda, and Dorado from Super Pangas for well under $325.00 for each of us for the whole weekend of panga and surf fishing in Mexico. tell me that's not a fricken bargain!!!

If you or whoever else is seriously interested, I'll do some solid research. We need minimum 6 of us to commit.

Thumbs up

Hey that sounds fun, count me in. I think late Feb or March would be better though for me at least. Gotta save up a little after the holidays and all.
