Unhappy Fishing The San Joaquin River

Ok so me and my cousin hit the San Joaquin River this weekend. We first tried the San Joaquin Over Flow which is located right under the 41 freeway. We were there from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM and we didn't get a nibble. We were pretty dissapointed because we we've fished that spot several times before and did really well.............So then we move onto the Lost Lake Park Area of the San Joaquin River located right off of Friant Road. This place is known for trout.. So as soon as we pull up we see the fish feeding on bugs off the surface water. It had to be about 12:30 PM when we got there...Bad news!!! We threw everything at them...Night Crawlers, Red Worms, Berkley Trout Worms, Power Bait, Salmon Eggs, Kast Masters, Rooster Tails, and we even tried flies.....We were there from 12:30 to 5:30....and we got one 10 inch trout.....I guess it wasn't our day......

That's too bad, hopefully they'll be more cooperative next time.

The fish must have really been focused in on the insects. Sometimes the only way is to get out the fly rod and try and match what they are feeding on as well as you can.
