Catalina

Has anyone been out to Catalina recently?

Thinking about making a trip out there soon.

Catalina?

The seahawk is out of la harbor bryan, you down to maybe hit it up? Its not as nice as the first string but Rick will put us on fish. They got 5 seabass for 13 guys not too long ago, which is pretty good for this time of year. I'll give the landing a call and see when they're running.

Bryan, if your going out there, here are some tips:

On the north side of the island, you can find barracuda, kelp bass, bonito, yellowtail, halfmoon, sheephead, white seabass, and sanddab.

On the east end, you can get more pelegaic species like: striped marlin, swordfish, and sometimes albacore, bonito and bluefin tuna.

On the South side, you can find the same species as the north side. You will also find: rockfish(brown types), halibut, and occasionally bluefin tuna.

Marlin and swordfish fishing is really only good during the summer, but u never know.......

Also, if you have a great GPS system, 5 miles northeast of Avalon Harbor, is the "228 fathom spot" which is good for striped marlin and swordfish.

Hope this helps!!
