THE DELTA
Bernadette Pipkins of Gotcha! Bait and Tackle in Antioch said striper
fishing remains good with Broad Slough, Chain Island, Sherman Lake and
Bethel Island being some places to try. Bullhead is a little hard to
come by, but anchovies and Rat-L-Traps are also good to use.
Catching stripers were Karen and Butch Martinez (32.5 pounds) trolling a
rebel at Sacramento Point, Rich Solomon (33.1 pounds) using bullhead at
Mothball Fleet, Mark Atherton (7.25 pounds) on anchovies at Bethel
Island and Jim Dawson (37.35 pounds) using bullhead at Chain Island.
Kenny and Jordan Peacock caught two stripers totaling 10 pounds and a
11/2-pound black bass at Delta Marina using Rat-L-Traps. Jordan Peacock
also caught seven smallish black bass using Rat-L-Traps at Delta Marina,
and Dave Veal caught a 7.75-pound black bass at Bethel Island using
anchovies. Mike MacCaskie and Jack Robinson caught two catfish totaling
12 pounds and a 3-pound rainbow trout using anchovies. Demi Abenoja
caught a 65-pound sturgeon from West Island using grass shrimp.
