THE RIVERS
SACRAMENTO RIVER, ANDERSON: Kirk Portocarrero of Outdoor Adventures
Sport Fishing said fishing for King Salmon is good in the Balls Ferry
area. Late fall salmon are starting to arrive, and Portocarrero and his
clients are catching bright salmon using Flatfish lures with sardine
wrap. More salmon are on the way after the much-needed rain.
SACRAMENTO RIVER, REDDING: Portocarrero said fly fishing and drifting
for rainbow trout are good, with 2- to 4-pounders being caught along
with a few steelhead. They are practicing catch and release, drifting
Redding to Anderson. They are using Fox's Poopah, Copper John Nymphs
Nos. 14-16 in brown and Prince Nymphs Nos. 14-16 in olive and brown.
