Central Coast Bay Report 11/17/05

THE BAYS
SUISUN: Jordona Santiago of Martinez Bait and Tackle reported great
fishing this week with striper being caught throughout the Mothball
Fleet, Pt. Edith and the Martinez pier/shoreline. Bullhead, anchovies
and grass shrimp are the best baits. Sturgeon are being caught at Buoy
6, along the sandbar and at the first and sixth rows of ships. Grass
shrimp, ghost shrimp and salmon roe are the baits of choice. Over the
next week, it appears the late afternoon through early morning tides are
going to be better to fish.
Catching stripers were Johnny Bera of Antioch (40 inches, 24 pounds),
Stan Gilstrap of San Pablo (44 inches, 30 pounds), Bob Frazer of
Martinez (two totaling 55.5 inches, 14.6 pounds), Larry Wigley of
Martinez (19 inches, 3 pounds), Megan Smith of El Sobrante (31.5 inches,
10.6 pounds) and Rob Lock Jr. of Martinez (two totaling 46 inches, 10
pounds).
Others included Kyle Bryan of Martinez (22 inches, 3.8 pounds), Dave
Pellegrini of Concord (two totaling 49 inches, 25 pounds), Jim Delbridge
of Walnut Creek (two totaling 66 inches, 28.2 pounds), Ron Morgan of
Vallejo (40 inches, 25 pounds), Mike McFadden of Pittsburg (30 inches,
10 pounds) and Mark Silva of Benicia (30 inches, 7 pounds). Tom Fisher
of Concord caught double limits of striper this week with two 18-inchers
along with 20- and 25-inchers on grass shrimp and anchovies from the
shoreline.
Catching sturgeon were John Crabtree (68 inches, 70.8 pounds), Gary
Higby of Martinez (60 inches, 40 pounds), Steve Clark of Martinez (54
inches, 38.9 pounds) and 13-year-old Ryan Tom of Castro Valley (58
inches, 41.3 pounds).
