Central Coast Bay Report 11/10/05
THE BAYS
SUISUN: Jordona Santiago of Martinez Bait and Tackle reported good
fishing for this week, with striper action remaining strong and only a
couple sturgeon reported. Buoy 4 is the most productive spot for
sturgeon and striper. The Martinez Pier and shoreline are serving up
good amounts of striper. The tides will improve for the weekend, and the
rainfall should start producing more sturgeon.
Jim Delbridge of Walnut Creek caught a 30-inch, 8.7-pound striper on a
bullhead at the sandbar and added a 91/2-pounder a few days later. Also
catching stripers were Don Arima of Richmond (two totaling 63 inches) at
Middleground on bullhead, Ron Morgan of Vallejo (two totaling 66 inches,
22 pounds) at Buoy 4 on grass shrimp, and Briana Jacobsen, 10, of
Antioch (30 inches, 9.1 pounds) at Port Chicago on a bullhead. Others
included Carmen Ross of Oakland (111/2 pounds) at Buoy 4 on a bullhead
and Rob Lock Jr. of Martinez (191/2 inches, 21/2 pounds) from the
Martinez Pier on grass shrimp.
Paul Borda of Concord caught and released a 88.3-inch, 195-pound
sturgeon at Buoy 4 on an eel/grass shrimp combo, and 7-year-old Thomas
Gare of Sonoma caught a 58-inch, 451/2-pound sturgeon at the fifth row
of ships on grass shrimp.
Jim Smith had the charter boat Happy Hooker near Seal Island on Saturday
and Sunday. Ten passengers caught 11 bass up to 8 pounds and one
sturgeon on Saturday. They added eight shaker sturgeon on Sunday,
including a 84-incher by Steve Parenti of Concord.
