I definitely don't agree with many of their campaigns and the way they go about getting what they want. If you haven't been to their website, you should check it out www.peta.org. We all need to be aware of PETA and other organizations that are working hard to take away our right to fish. If you didn't know already, PETA is very much against fishing. They even have a website www.fishinghurts.com where they include anti-angling videos and articles. The best thing we as anglers can do to counteract groups like this is to take an active role in local, state, and federal government and voice our opinions. We can also get involved with organizations like UPSAC :
United Pier and Shore Anglers of California (UPSAC) is a non-profit organization developed to provide support and voice to a group of anglers whose numbers are numerically high, but whose views have been traditionally under represented. Our goal is to unite and strengthen this group through communication, education and representation.
Anyway, that's my 2 cents...

I have heard of them before, but never knew what they were. Yeah, how can you compare a dog to a fish? Totally different....

In high school I was in the FFA and we were at the county fair. All the animals were tied up in the stalls. One night they came in and untied the steers and put stickers all over the place.
The funny thing is. They were against us tying our animals up but when the untied them, three steers made it to the road and were killed by a truck. Yep they helped them out all right.
I have had a few experiences on the boat where people get so mad because we keep the fish we catch. They say it is mean and we should just let them go after we catch them. But the next thing you know they a shoving a hook threw the head of a sardine for bait. Trying to catch a fish they can let go. Is a sardine not a fish? Some people’s ignorance amazes me. And there not even from PETA.

On that mink story.
Minks mate for life and when they put them back in the cages they did not know which ones were which they started to fight and kill each other.
Way to go PETA

Who says I wouldn't do that to a dog? LOL.
CaptLurch- I totally agree with you. Sardies/anchovies are fish too. I mean, if those guys really hated keeping fish, then they should use artificials or something.
Trout Guy- I do believe in the theory that fish cannot feel pain in their fins and their lip. However, i do believe that they can feel it in their throat and their body.

Ok...(arms stretch, knuckles crack) here's my opinion. Everyone is entitled to an opinion..how they act is another thing. If you need to fish to eat, cool - keep the fish.
If you just like to fish, let em' go! If you need to kill a deer for food to live, kill it...if you don't need the meat, go to the store...
I guess my point is, why destroy wildlife of any type unnecesarily??
(By the way, I'm not advocating PETA, they are way to heavy with their axes!)

Man, have you touched a burr that has been under my saddle for years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have sent NUMEROUS e-mails (even called) and have gotten absolutely no where with the A _ _ H _ L _ S!!!! ONE of my peeve's (believe me there are many, many more) was them turnin' over mink stoles to the homeless. I pointed out that SOME of these unfortunate people would like nothin' better then ta' turn around, find a "fence and unload them for somethin' other than food in their stomachs and a roof over their heads (notice the capital letters on SOME). Peta's responce to that was, they spray paint them before there donated (an average professional cleaner can remove the paint for the right $$$)!!#*!?*?!! I also inquired as ta' where the monies donated was goin', what proof they had that these stoles were even goin' to the homeless, ha' never gave me an answer, but the S.O.B., did tell me he was a animal rights VOLUNTEER and then had the balls to inform on how much time their coordinater spent fighting for animal rights, working with the homeless and how LITTLE SHE MADE!!!!???? Believe me I could go on and on about these IDIOT'S buuuuutt, I'm gettin' typin' elbow. Outta here... ~Skip
