First String 4-9-04
Left with 15 or 16 passengers for catlina island thurs night. Woke up at 1:30am to find us next to the light boat where we got squid for the day. Couldn't go back to sleep so I started fishing around 2 with 3 other guys. We were getting some calicos to bite here and there with a couple fish pulling like the right kind for a moment or two before getting dumped. around 4am I get picked up and hook a 31 inch seabass to get the day started. We fished some spots around west cove for junk and worked the spot my fish came from in the afternoon. we picked up lots of shorts (around 25) and 8 legals for the day. All shorts were carefully released, and some bruiser seabass got lost in the kelp.
