Puerto Santo Tomas , Mexico 7/17-7/20
Headed up to PST sunday morning with my cousin jason and jim and jims dad. left the house around 7am and stoped in rosarito to fill up on some tacos and made it to PST turn off around 1pm. After a 20 mile dirt road that was a real b**** was greeted by sam the owner and we discussed the plan for the next couple of days.
DAY 1 : woke up @ 6am to the wind blowing hard......real hard. not sure if the pangas were going to go out we sat around the restraunt and ate an awsome breakfast and got are gear ready!
Myself and cousin jason went in one panga and jim and his dad went in the other. left the ramp around 7:15 am and headed out to wind gust of 15-20 mph and what seemed to be 4-5 foot seas! our caption "nacho" seemed confident dodging the large swells as we headed about 5-6 miles offshore.
I was sitting in the front of the panga or wood rowboat with 40hp yam looking up at the swell and feeling alittle nervous and about to sh*** my pants while nacho just said "no problemo" . things got better when we dropped are line and started catching large reds and different rock cod .
made it back around 1pm with all my stomach contents. had lobster for dinner and headed back to the casa for some beer and stories of the day.
DAY 2: WTF no wind at all! calm as come be with a dense fog along the coast. made it out again and fished along the kelp line for more calicos , rock cod and some white fish. jason and i and our new caption Juan headed back to the bay around 1:45 and got lost in the fog! Juan just smiled as he stood up looking for the coast with his swiss army knife compass mayed it back at 3:30 and fillet all the fish. still to tired to type so here are some pics!
3 nights! 8 cases of pacifico! fishing 2 days = great time!
