Going up to Santa Cruz area over July 4th

My family and I are heading up to Santa Cruz, CA for the July 4th weekend. This is my first trip to the area and I was looking to find out if there is any good fly rod (read also as fresh water) fishing in the area. I'm not looking to driving up to the Sacramento river, or get into a three hour hike through brush and rock (I'll save THAT one for one off my OWN trips!!) Just something a bit more local to the area like 30 minutes or so from Santa Cruz.

Thanks in advance guys!

Welcome to the board Mike! I haven't fished that area before, but I have a searchable database of CA fishing locations that you can check out here -

http://www.hookupsportfishing.com/cafishingspots.php

You can search by district which will probably be easiest.

Thanks for the kind welcome! I am primarily loking at doing some fresh water fly fishing. I can always take a spin or bait caster to the ocean too, while I'm there. (That's the EASY part!!) I'll only be a mile or so away.

We leave in the AM, so I hope I got this in on time!!

Thanks!

Mike,

go to: www.centralcoastflyfishing.com/LocalFishing

They'll have all the info that you need for freshwater and saltwater flyfishing in the Santa Cruz, CA. area. Good luck
