Got those Puddingstone Blues :-(
I have been fishing Puddingstone Res. for over 2 years now, and (this is embarrassing) I haven't caught a thing. I have fished every bank. Have tried for Catfish, Trout, and Bass. Nothing. Now, the friend that I usually fish with has had very limited success spot fishing for bass, but very little action. I've seen the fish in there. Had different baits all around them, but so far I am 0 for 35(at least).
The Time for Bass is coming around again and I want to break this "Puddingstone Curse". Can someone share any tips that have worked for them.
Hangin' my head in shame and disgust...But not givin' up.

Ask Indo-angler and Limitedout. They fish that lake all the time, and they usually always catch fish there! Ive heard from them that crankbaits work well for bass. Also, welcome to the board!

I've never fished Pud, but I know there's some guys on here that fish it very regularly. Anybody have some tips?

Your honesty is pretty Fishermen are not necessarily known for it
Last year was the first time I fished Puddingstone for bass, so I am by no means an expert! But here is what I've tried. Fished the whole east shore: from the point by the rocks to the swimbeach area. I like to use crankbaits and move along: Armstrong, spinnerbaits, topwater, swimbaits 3"-5" Big Hammers and 7" Osprey the trout imitations, rattletraps (just got a 7# tonight). Dropshotting and throwing senkos will also work well. I usually fish the evenings a couple of times a week, but it really is about putting in time on the water!!! No substitute for that. Keep trying don't give up. Only last week I was getting frustrated for my last three trips to Pud I only had one bite every time and farmed all three of them. Then I got a 3# and tonight a real nice one.
I don't fish for trout here. The best time for them would be right after a DFG stocking (duh) and where they have stocked i.e. sailboat cove or the ramp on the North shore. Planning to try to hit up the east shore Sun eve. You're welcome to hook up. Many times I'm out there late by my lonely self anyways. By the way the time for bass is NOW! Good luck and tight lines.

Yeah, I've camped up there at Eastshore RV park, saw several fisherpeople struggling with the swamp grass - my mind said - "sheesh" swamp makes poor fishing - never heard anything good about it but it's close for me to Mr. Truck - I live in Glendora as you do - I've been giving a lot of thought to going over there but so far have not made it due to "house" obligations....

Thanks for the words of encouragement. I am going to try to get out there tonight and walk the bank between the fishing pier and the RV park area. I am thinking I’ll go with a crank bait to get started to cover some area. Hope to you out there.

I fish puddingstone about every other day and when I'm not there I'm fishing some place else. Every species of fish has been biting lately. Since your having trouble with bass I would use lures that work and are easy to use. I'm assuming your shore fishing, and if you are don't use a 5 or 6 dollar crankbait because your going to snag it, lose it, and you'll only feel worse. Instead of a crankbait use a hard or soft jerkbait. Don't try to be a cool basser with nice gear, expenisive trout imitators, and dark sun glasses. Seriously use what works! I recommend fishing 4'' texas rigged roboworms(or drop shot), senkos, and nightcrawlers. If you use these three baits you WILL catch some bass. Once you learn to catch them with these simple baits move on to learning how to fish jerkbaits, topwater, and spinnerbaits. Last time I fished pudd was on Friday and fishing was good but they had ski races or something on the weekend and haven't been back out since. Next best bet would be to fish about 4 days before the full moon. Oh yeah fish at Legg lake and Big bear are biting If you have questions on any other species you can email me at hookup17@hotmail.com
