The 10ft. Phenix I bought from Local Rookie, My 8ft. Phenix, My G1000 Lamiglas, my Daiwa Heartland, my Fenwick, and my Rogue UL are also the rods that I need to throw crappie jigs and powerworms.....the only question on my mind is how many of these freakin' things do I want?

I also Have many trout rods to use but the 841 is the far best trout rod for trout worms! All my phenixs rods feel the same and are more whipper than loomis rods.

Yeah, and I want that 8 1/2 ft. Rogue UL at Fisherman's Access bad, too. If it were an ocean rod, I'd have no problem justifying it to myself, but I just have too-damned-many ultra-light spinning rods. It would be just another rod gathering dust in the tube....

I REALLY like the G1000. I have the 7 foot two-piece, and it's been my "go-to" rod for throwing the plastic worms at trout. It has a surprisingly soft (to me, anyway) action for a graphite rod, but good spine when it shuts down. I was advised that a good rod for drop-shotting is one that allows the fish to "swim through" the bait, and the G1000 lamiglas is great at that and getting positive hooksets, too. As far as casting goes, I routinely air-mail the GLX/IMX guys fishing near me at Hesperia. It'll really sling it out there. If the rod were another 6"-12" longer (with the same action) it would be perfect.
