tiagra 30wlrs
heres my review of it.
it is a superb trolling reel. the only better one i have ever used are the accuarates. they are better for obvious reasons. anyway back to the reel.
it has a lever drag system that is VERY smooth. it is two speed as well. it can haul in every species of pelagic fish. i have only used it for tuna. it makes tuna feel like reeling in a small trout. i landed a 20pound albacore in under 5 minutes with this thing. my dad has used it for marilin and sail fish to 150pounds and it worked great. great reel for the money. expensive but worth every penny.

Much better than international.....But I am actually into the new Daiwa's Sealine Tournament Special reels right now.... Specially much better drag than the older Tiagras, and Qual Wet Disc Drag!
Some Tiagras are still is the king of the tackle like 50WLRS 80W and 130W. But SLT20, 30, 50W can easily beat the Tiagra 20-30W on anyday!
But Tigara's 2005 New "A" series will be another stories.

I am not a huge shimano fan regarding all company product. The Product is incredible, but the Shimano corporation is full of a bunch of greedy bast#@$@'$.
Anyway, I love the Diawa Corporation, but have to say that I'm torn right down the middle when it comes to comparing the SLT's big game reels and the Tiagra's. I really like them both. Each has it's pro's over the other and cons as well. Some of the International features do however outweigh even these reels. Well, I have to say my absolute passion lies with the AVET EXW's and the TR-X's, and also the Accurates.

The accurates are awsome. Best drag system. The owners went to my high school.

Andrew,
Honestly and I promise to GOD they are the most incredible reel in thier class. they beat out the:
Alutecnos
Duel's
Accurates
Internationals
Tiagra's
SLT's
.........By far!
I've only used it once, and it was for shark fishing (Mako and Thresher which normally I'll use my AVET EX 50/ 2 and /or EXW 50/2). Needless to say that the TR-X is over kill for those sharks, but I wanted to try it out and I wasn't doing any Marlin or Swordfishing anytime soon, .......but I can imagine when I do!! It's gonna be phat times!
