may 28 - fished at Stevens Creek Reservoir

Hi All, Went fishing at Steven's Creek today and had a blast. I took out two newbies and both enjoyed themselves but didnt catch a thing. But we all had fun. I thought this place was being planted but from what I heard from one guy, they haven't been planting? I could have sworn the county park guy told me that they did 2 weeks ago. Anyway, it was a lovely day and i caught two small large mouth bass (release of course) and 2 reg size crappies (a first for me!), it was fun, there wasn't too many bites and I was just using worms. the guy next to me was using bubble gum marshmellow or something and caught legal size trouts, which was kinda cool. But the thing that i was tripping about was the trouts scream!!!! OMG, when he was taking out the hook they screamed, didnt know fish had vocal chords! The ladies with me didnt want to touch worms so they suffered no fish with salmon roe, power bait and marshmellows. hehe, I'm 12 bux richer cuz i was the only one catching fish.

We went early and it was so nice, but my mistake was taking them to a picnic area to fish, as the day went by what was nice and peaceful becamet became noisy and annoying with parents not supervising their kids, screaming kids, scolding parents.....grrrrr. No one else in our area was catching anything besides the guy and I so I think maybe it was location but then i dont know what they were using.

Hi tanyah, this is Tom. Sounds like all in all yoou had a pretty good time. With a good attitude like that I am sure you will have plenty more. Where is Stevens Creek? Somewhere in California I am assuming, although I could be all wrong. I havent had to much of a chance to do any freshwater fishing other than Lake Casitas, and some short time spent fishing up in rose valley past Ojai. Not much luck to say the least, personally I think those bass and crappies smelled the saltwater thats soaked in my skin. Anyways hope you do well on your next venture. See Ya.

That guy must have been really squeezing those trout when removing the hooks, they dont have vocal cords but if you squeez them and the air and liquid being forced out will make that noise.

Sounds like you guys had a good time. Hope your friends werent discrouraged about not catching anything and continue to fish. Happens to the best of us. Never heard a trout scream, but as Fishslayer said he may have been squeezing it.

Hi all again

Hey everyone, I actually returned again to the same spot to fish the next day after I had the morning picking cherries in Brentwood and it was fantastic. all in all I caught 6 crappies, 2 large trouts, my friend caught one legal black bass and one blue gill. I was just using worms and no weight. It was quite fun.

I asked my co-workers if they were interested and they said yeS! they loved it, thought it was real fun.

My boyfriend also fished at Almaden Lake this past weekend and he said there were MANY bites and the smallest he caught were 2lbs.

Wished more people fished and posted up here, I'd like to try the other spots as well. luv2fish, StevensCreek is in Northern California right off the 280 and Foothill exit. it's real close and beautiful out there. Great place for a hike as well.

Here's my catch:
