Changes - March 2005

Hey guys,

I just want to let everyone know that the site may go down for a short period of time over the next couple days. We will be switching hosting companies and will be moving to a much nicer server! The DNS change may take the site down temporarily, but we will do everything we can to minimize that time as much as possible.

We will also be reorganizing the forums and moving some things around. The Fishing Tips/Tricks and Hook Up Fishing Club For Teens forums are now gone. The Fishing Tips/Tricks forum just didn't have enough interest and all posts in that forum were moved to either the Open forum or the Tackle Advice forum.

As for the Hook Up Fishing Club For Teens, we have decided that it's time to move on to something different. There will perhaps be another club on the board in the future and we are discussing it. Join me in congratulating Sean on a job well done. He has managed the Hook Up Fishing Club for Teens since it's beginning. It was a hard decision, but we felt it was time to move to something else.

Look for some more changes in the near future including some very cool surprises...

Thanks for reading!!!

Jonathan (Wahoo!)

Jon, before changing you need to change your DNS with your registrar. Keep your first ID at your current host and your second to the new DNS. Wait two days so it propagates, than change it over that way the site never goes down. Also pick April, your about to switch DNS when Google is going to update the toolbar... BAD move... FYI

Thanks for the DNS info. I'll give that a shot.

I'm unhappy with the direction Google has decided to go with it's toolbar. The new autolink feature could (and probably will) add links to my site that I don't want (for users with the new toolbar installed). I hope for hookup to be left out as long as possible until I can find out if there's a way to opt out of the new toolbar feature for the site. If changing hosts now will delay the sites update with the new toolbar, I'm definitely not upset about that. If Google doesn't provide an opt out option for the Auto Link, I'll probably look into creating a script that would not allow the Auto Link feature or perhaps the whole toolbar to work with hookup.

IT's just google trying to make more money unfortunately. The reason their Algo is so tough is to force people to use adwords, thus making them more money. Have you noticed how bad the results have been lately for any kind of search on Google? Ive given up on Google, but doing really well with MSN and Yahoo.

I wouldnt worry too much though because 90% of the google toolbar users are webmasters and not your average joe... That's my opinion of it anyway.
