Trout Tip: Dont have a worm blower??

I came across this tip a few days ago. If you dont have a worm blower, forget it, or just dont wanna buy one, you dont have to blow up your worms to make them float. If you take a mini marshmallow, put it right above the eye of the hook, your worm will float off the bottom. Not only does this act as a floater, but this can be bait too. Trout also like to eat marshmallows.

I have never tried this before, but i am definitley going to try this when i go trout fishing next.

Good tip DementedFish. I've used this trick before and it works pretty well.

Never heard of that.... We use popcorn here for some huge bows and dolly varden. Only when we want to play around with the fish...

Marshmellow and night crawlers is definitely the thing to do. As a matter of fact, this is one of the first baits that I used for trout during High School when I was fishing Irvine and Sarl back in 88 and 89. I have always caught trout on this hook up and still do at Irvine. It does make the crawler float and also is a great additive with the marshmellows. I like to use the anise flavor, white ones, and the garlic, yellow ones. I use a medium size crawler and slide it threw the hook and up the line, then I place a mellow on a size 6 single hook, then I slide the worm back down to the hook, cast out, and it works just as good if not better then my plain inflated crawlers.

I have caught a 9, a 8.7, a 11.9, and a host of 5-6 pounders on this set up at Irvine in the past using nightcrawlers and mellows. Give it a shot!

I will have to try that marshmellow thing sometime. Maybe it will do really good on the big fish...?!

I like using the white or chartreuse color, even using them plain on the hook with a power worm has gotten me a limit when nobody else was, that was my secret setup for a while!!!!!!!!!!!
