And the point of that was... lol? Maybe if you hook the back up reel to the old reel and the new reel to a new rod it would be like fishing a backup rig

No I havent. I went to sportmart today, and i saw two seeker corktape rods. They were really nice. They are exactly what I want. It was an american series.
