Which rod is better?

Hey i was looking in my Cabela's spring catalog for a surf rod, and i came across these two rods:

Cabelas Bigwater telescopic rod: Model:TW12 Length: 12' Action: Heavy Line Weight:15-40 lbs.

Cabelas King Kat Spinning rod: Model:CKKS 102 Length: 10' Action: Med. Heavy Line Weight: 14-30 lbs.

The bigwater rod is one of those rods where it slides down into the handle. (if you know what im talking about)

Which one do you guys suggest for surf fishing?

I use a 15ft Terminator surf rod with an Okuma EB80 reel. It's the best combo I've ever used for surf fishing. I've never used the rods you listed, but I would stay away from any telescopic rods. If you want to wait for a couple months you will be able to get some really great surf rods right here.... Hook Up Sportfishing will be opening an online tackle shop in the near future so keep a look out for that. We'll give you more information as we get closer to opening day!

Demented if you are not sure what kind of rod you want, I would suggest going to a tackle shop and look at a few rods first. See how they feel to you. Then buy them on line if you can get a better price.

I have used the king kat before, it is a decent rod for the price. I too would also stay away from telescopic rods.

for surf casting, i prefer the telescopic rods. Mine is about 3 ft collapsed and 18' when extended

I have a 12ft ugly stick rod and I've caught a sh*t load of fish with it in the past. I might only use it 3 times a year now since I use light tackle. Some of the locals I talk too have Terminator surf rods and are very happy with it and recommend it.

i have never broken any of my telescopic rods. not to insult u or anything but alot of times, long rods break while fighting a fish because of a common mistake. Overangling the rod and then the fish makes a surge and snap ur rod will break instantly.
