question about rods

Hi, im pretty new to this forum. I just wanted to see if anyone can give me any good advices on which rod to buy. I've been using my calcutta te400 to go fishing on local boat trips. I mainly use live bait (sardines) but I wanted to try something new so I bought some jigs. Im looking for a 9 feet rod so I can cast out pretty far but I don't know which rod to get. My friends tell me to get a custom made rod but I don't have the money for that right now. I was looking at something under or about 100 bucks. Can anyone give me the name of some rods that I can choose from?

thanks

Turners has "Californians" for that price, lifetime guarantee and they do have a 9ftr. Remember a rod that length is an advantage to the fish as far as yoiur pulling power and it is strictly an Iron, or if light enough swimbait rod. You COULD fish bait on it, but it isn't really built for it. Taka's bait and tackle also sells some good rods in this area.

Also a custom rod wouldnt be as much as you think $150-$200, true it is nearly double want you want to pay, but it looks cool, you can catch thieves who may want to steal it, also deter thiefs who feel they want to steal it because of the customization. You can also get roller guides, high quality guides, the butt section you want your options are endless.

if you look around you can have a custom calstar made for less than a stock one off the shelf but you are not going to get a good rod for a hundred or less either the only rods i will use are old saber before penn made them fenwicks seeker calstar and cabelas rods all the other brands i have used broke

It's big but would work. Would be overkill for throwing iron for cuda, but maybe for yellows.
