Definitely rent a boat! Stripers are hard to come by from the shore there. LMB can be caught almost anywhere in the lake though. I'll email you some info, so check your inbox.
Lures to take for the stripers include jigs, topwaters, swimbaits and rattle baits. The stripers tend to hang out in the main channels of the lake. If they aren't boiling, your best bet will be to do some trolling. Keep your eyes open for the boils! They will hit almost anything you throw at them then. Also, when approaching a boil, don't motor all the way up on the fish. Cut the motor a long cast from them, or they'll dive down and disappear.
If you don't find the stripers, the LMB are phenomenal there. An OK day at Margarita is 30 LMB per person. A good day is 50+!!
You have no excuse to come back with a skunk from this trip dodo!! LOL

Thats a lot of miles from here, 239 one way, 4 hours 26mins. Why drive so far for skunk, can't we just fish silverwood or skinner, not that don't want to go but this is a unchartered waters for all of us and it could be a long skunky drive. So what time you want to leave?
