St Croix Legend Tournament Bass Sweeper Spinnerbait Rod

St. Croix Legend Tournament Bass LTBC70MHF - Sweeper Spinnerbait Rod

This is one of two spinnerbait rods in St Croix’s Legend Tournament Bass lineup. It is seven feet long, is rated with a medium heavy power and a fast action. It has a rating of 12-20# test lines and 3/8 to 1oz lures. The rod is blue in color and has cork grips. First off, I’d say this is a heavy power rod instead of medium heavy. With that out of the way, this rod has some serious power and backbone to it. And with that backbone, it has a stiff tip as well. It’s a great rod for the heavier spinnerbaits and fishes a 3/4oz spinnerbait with two big Colorado blades with no difficulty. Unfortunately, it is not very versatile. Other baits I have fished on this are small swimbaits in the 5” range including the mattlures baby bass and 6” trout, 4 and 5” mission fish. It is strong enough to fish these baits but the handle on the rod is too short and makes fishing most of these baits a bit awkward. I’ve had it for a few years now and caught lots of nice fish on it but it just doesn’t feel like a great investment.

Sensitivity
Good spinnerbait rod
Short handle
Durability (the guides bend a little too easily)
Versatility
Expensive

that's a bummer. those legend rods are pricey too, shouldnt have those issues with the guides.

The thing is, they use one guide foot to put on the smaller guides so they can save weight. Unfortunately, that means all the pressure is being put on that one foot so it bends easier. Overall it is not too big of an issue, just something that happens when you abuse your rods like i do (havent had that problem with other rods though).
