Fishing San Francisco

I usually fish saltwater but recently ive been getting into fresh. I have a couple of noob questions for trout or other species.

1. Whats the maximum lure size a trout would take? How many cm or in usually

2. is there another place in SF other than lake merced that gets stocked for trout or anyother fish and is pretty good?

when fishing for trout, the average bait is from a querter of an inch to 3 inches but big swmbaits and plugs up to 9 inches catch trout.

9in is a little big. I wouldnt use a lure longer than 4in. It all depends on what kind of lure you are talking about though.

those might be a little to girthy for trout but they all look great for largemouth bass. the one on the top left looks like it can work for trout. for trouts, try powerbait, salmon eggs, worms, trout worms, mini jigs, small spoons, small spinners and rapalas. the trout worms are three inches long while everything else is smaller. there are always exceptions and trout, specially big ones will be caught on huge lures, for instance the MS Slammers and the Castaic Soft Baits

Trout are canables. In fact my favorite Rapala's are the rainbow trout and brown trout patterns, though in CD3 and CD5...

Hmmm lets see. You got some minnows, and some poppers there. Normally, these would be for largemouth bass, but since I can see these are so small, these would work for trout,

One of my favorite lures for trout are roostertails and I have caught bass on them too. I have only used trout worms once and I caught more bass then trout on them, but i am willing to give them another try. Like jstcrzyengh said those little rapalas are good I like fishing them a little better then bait, but doesnt always mean they are better.
