Pond Fishing 3.13.08

We've had a few nice days in a row here, so I decided to hit some smaller waters for some bass. I went out yesterday but I forgot my camera so I'm not even going to bother with that report, lol. But I did get one really nice swimbait bass.
I went back out today to much harder conditions. A front had moved in and the temperatures plummeted. I managed one keeper sized fish today. It was caught on a weightless 8" Power Lizard, pumpkin/chart, in 5 feet of water. The presentation was very slow crawling the lizard through a brush pile. The fish was 17" and weighed 3.59 pounds.
I can't wait for the weather to get better so the fishing improves! Here's a pic of todays catch.

Yeah, the water temp is still in the low 40's. Real low 40's, lol.

Wowsers! I thought you were strictly an Internet Angler. Just kidding, Darren.

That's an odd looking bass, but I guess like Al said, it's been frozen half the year...lol. Glad to see you back out on the water/frost.

Good luck on your next outing and keep them reports coming!

Thanks for the report Darren! If only that pond had bigger fish that would eat swimbaits

I was thinking exactly the same thing. If it did, they wouldn't stand a chance.

Yeah, the guys on these boards are real jokers Any half intelligent fisherman can tell that this is--without a doubt--a freshwater cow cod--but without the bulging eyes due to the pond's shallow depth. These freshwater cow cod are extremely rare--and are typically caught only in the dreams of the fisherman in question And even though these fish are mythical, at best, you should always practice catch-and-release
