New Rods
Alright, I needed some new rods and was leaning towards getting some calstars wrapped but could never decide what I wanted done. Was going to get a factory wrap as they look good and a Calstar is a Calstar!! After browsing around I read some great reviews of OC rods. Relatively new company and why not help the little guy!!! I first called Tony Hale, owner of OC Rods and talked to him about his rods. Very nice guy and feeling confident of his products, I ordered 2 on the spot!! Shipping was fast and the rods were well protected as they each came in there own rod sleeve with the OC rods logo . They use great components utilizing alps reel seat and gimbals and Pac Bay DP Aero Guides with Zirconium Rings. I bought 2 7 ft rods with a line class rating of 20-40 lbs. First impressions is the rods are sic!!! I love the cobalt blue color used in the reel seat as well as the matching rings in the guides. The guide wrappings are clean and tight and the flexcoat is smooth with no imperfections noted!! Now I could have bought any rods, but decided to try these out and I'm glad I did!! I will be testing these rods this weekend and will see how they handle hopefully with a fish on the other end line!!!

Jeff needs to buy some of those too. They'll really bring out the color of his eyes.

Nice selection Al, your choices are an excellent value. I have called OC myself and am convinced of the quality. Top grade components all around. I wrap my own rods for personal enjoyment and in the process have learned a lot. One lesson being that rods do not catch fish, fishermen catch fish. There is NO fish catching advantage of a $350 dollar rod vs. a $130 unit. The fish does not know whats in your hand. It back to the old addage......
"Its not the gun its the gunner"
And at this point in time your are the "TOP GUN" 56lb WSB... Gadzoooooks!!!
Am sure you will have a life time of enjoyment from the additions to your arsenal.

I was thinking the same thing Walt. If i knew how to wrap, I would go that route. One day when I have time!! The rods are beautiful and I'm excited to try them out!!!

Very cool of you to help the little guy out, rods look very sweet. As a profession custom rodsmithing isn't all that lucrative and any bit helps.
I hope the business takes off
