Carrying rods on a bike...

Well I had a good day turn bad a week ago. It was right after school, strapped my rod on my bike, rode down to the river...caught some fish.(Reports are in worldwide reports section). On my way back I strapped it on different cause I couldnt remember exactly how I had it like the first time. I used bungy cords like before and it was fine.

The next day when I got down to the river I go my rod ready, pulled some line out and on my first cast the rod snapped about 2 eye holes down. I was suprised and very mad. I had strapped the rod on too hard and it cracked it I guess and I just finished it off with that first cast. Glad to say it was my "bad" trout rod. From then on I have been puting my rods in the tubes and strapping them on that way. Worked out fine yesterday.

Well, I dont know if you have ever lived in California, but what a lot of surfers do is get attachments on the side of their bikes to carry their boards. I dont know how to descibe it, but you could put your rods on that and it wou ld work.

Might be able to attach some pvc like your saying. Right now thats what I basically have. My rod tube is made of pvc then covered in some material, I am just strapping it to my bike with a bungy cord.

I think I have seen those before. That would work great for my 4 piece flyrod, its also totally out of the way.
