midges

Hey All,

This past fall I was midge fishing a local lake in SoCal and there was an awesome midge hatch. So I took a stomach pump to see what color the bugs were. Just in case some of you haven't seen midges before, here's a picture of some from a stomach pump.

Here's the fish the bugs were taken from. Sorry for the cutoff

Very cool. Question is, were they recycled to catch another trout or two?

I've been sworn to secrecy on this lake... but it's located somewhere in the San Bernandino Moutains (hint large lake )

Hey Ray, they do look like the LNL midges. These midges were anywhere from a size 12 - size 20. There's also daphinia in there... they're the white mucous looking thingies.

Actually, we don't use the real midge itself, although it has crossed my mind! We tie a fly pattern that resembles the midge.
