International vs. Calcutta

I am thinking of buying either a Penn International 975 or a Calcutta 400s or 700s. Which one do you think is better. I have heard a few bad things about the calcutta, but never about the international. I'm thinking of fly lining this and using it for yellowtails.

There A LOT of different models of sealines. Ive seen em up to $250.

The one thing I like about the calcutta over the penn is it has a clutch bar.

Depends on what lb test and what you want to do with it. I would say a calcutta all the way around UNLESS you go and get the 975 and get cal to blueprint it. I played with a blueprinted 975 once... I would of traded my calcutta for it anyday

I have a little Calcutta 251 that I load with 10lb and use on the half day boats, I love it and it loves me. Once a hog sand bass took it over board and my reel missed me so much it came back a half hour later and brought my rod back with it. (true story)

Fishslayer that is true love. Both reels are good. I have not had much experience with either, but I have used one of the sealines and i was pleasently impresed. I have a friend who swears by his calcutta 400, and i have used that one, not alot but i have and it was very nice. I am more of a penn guy though.

i have a 975 lever drag and have caught a couple 15 pound steelhead and some tuna with it but my one complaint about it is the level wind makes it much harder to cast but the 975 ld is a great 15 pound reel
