Trout Fishing 9/10 with Pics

Just got back from doing some fishing, and I have to say it was a great day for me. I strapped my flyrod and bait casting setup with bungys onto my bike. Then I road a couple miles down to this creek. Dont really want to specify it... I setup my flyrod with the "famous" TroutBeads. Tied on a #4 hook with a dirty roe 8mm troutbead 2" above my hook. Then splitshot about 14" up from the hook.

I fished in through the Silvers that were allover. After about 10 minutes I hooked into my first Dolly Varden(Bull Trout). Took a few minutes to get in and it was very pretty. I guestimated around 13 or 14" but it was a very nice fish. I got a few Silvers to bite a troutbead also. Same color and size but they kept breaking me off since I was using 3 and 5lb line.

Here is a picture of the beauty:

And here is a hole I fished and kept hooking into Silvers:

I might go again this weekend hopefully! :veryhappy:

Well, its a bead that resembles a salmon egg. They come in different colors matching the different colors of the eggs.

How do you rig them and do they work better that the "other" artifical eggs they make for flyfishing? You know the little balls of fluff tied directly onto a hook...

Well I rig them like this:

Hook, then 2" up put a bead. Take a round tookthpick and jam it into the hole so the bead will not slide. Then cut off the excess toothpick. Then about 14" or however you want it, put a splitshot(Depends on depth). I am not sure how the regular egg patterns compare or which one works better but I have heard more positive feedback about the beads. Everyone uses them a ton here.

As for the real salmon eggs. First of all a fly fisherman does not usually use "live" bait or anything to that affect. So thats why we use beads or a different egg tied pattern. I think that the beads can have better coloration to them which brings them out more, and calls for more fish to see them. It catches there eye more thus ending with them chasing the bead. We have caught trout up here on real eggs, but in areas that say "flyfishing Only" we cant use eggs so we use the best thing a trout fisherman could use here a bead or a egg tied pattern.

If you go to http://www.troutbeads.com you can see a ilistration on the setup using a bead.

These "Trout Beads" are just bass beads for Carolina riggin put to a different use, the people who are selling them are evil masterminds of marketing...you can buy plastic beads at an arts & craft store for less money I think.

Maybe, but these beads have better coloration to them, different colors mixed and swirled in making them very deadly. Might work in california, you guys get salmon dont ya?
