Ano Nuevo Lighthouse
 Just thought I'd share a piece of history with the hookups crew. This lighthouse sight holds a dear piece with me as one of the most inspirational landscapes along the pacific coast and possibly the world. An abandoned victorian style living complex that formerly housed folks to maintain the islands lighthouse. The island's since then become a conservation site for scientists at UCSC. Here's a wiki and pics about the mysterious island. In 1890, the first light was erected on Año Nuevo. The light was a lens lantern, which was mounted on the water tank. The station received a two-story duplex next to the original dwelling around 1906. Finally, in 1915, an official skeleton tower with a Fresnel lens in its lantern room was erected. On October 22, 1926, an earthquake struck the station and shook the lens off its pedestal and onto the floor of the watchroom where it shattered. The lantern lens was again displayed until a replacement lens arrived. The station was deactivated in 1948, and a whistle buoy is used to mark the area today.
