Pack your bags, load up your tackle boxes, grab your favorite rods and reels and your fishing license, and join us for some great fishing adventures across California's many lakes, rivers and ocean waters. And don’t forget your passport...your California Fishing Passport, that is!

How to EnterCatch any fish listed in the ocean (green), inland warmwater (yellow) or the inland coldwater (blue) sections of the California Fishing Passport between September and December of 2007.

Submit a digital, full-color photo and fishing data for each fish you catch through TripTracks online fishing logbook. Pictures must be clear so judges can verify the species. All fish must be fresh and caught during the contest period. A photo date stamp, a California Fishing Passport or a 2007 fishing regulations booklet must be included in the photo to confirm that the fish was caught during the contest period.

Anglers may choose to compete in the following three separate contests or "slams":

Saltwater Slam: Submit a total of five (5) different fish species from the ocean (green) section of your California Fishing Passport.
Warmwater Slam: Submit a total of five (5) different species from the inland warmwater (yellow) section of your California Fishing Passport.
Coldwater Slam: submit a total of three (3) different species from the inland coldwater (blue) section of your California Fishing Passport.
With each completed slam you will be eligible to win some great prizes donated by Berkley, Abu Garcia and Bass Pro Shops. Grand prizes will be awarded to 10 anglers who complete all three slams in the California Fishing Passport Fall Challenge.

Where to FishCalifornia is a state of remarkable natural resources and diverse outdoor recreational opportunities. With 1,100 miles of ocean coastline, 220,000 square miles of ocean waters, 4,172 lakes and reservoirs, 29,664 miles of streams and rivers, and 1,800 miles of bay and delta waters, California has more fishing opportunities than any other state in the country.

Saltwater Slam: Fish for saltwater species in all California ocean and bay waters. Choose from 86 different Passport species for this slam.
Warmwater Slam: Bass, catfish, sunfish and other warmwater fish can be found throughout the state in streams, rivers, ponds, lakes, reservoirs and the Delta system. Passport anglers will find 25 different fish species to choose from.
Coldwater Slam: Trout and other coldwater fish can be found in lakes, reservoirs, streams and rivers. From California’s clear mountain lakes, all the way down through the streams and rivers emptying into the Pacific Ocean, 12 different types of trout and three other wily coldwater fish await the stealthy angler.
Eligibility RequirementsEveryone is eligible. Anglers 16 years and older must have a valid 2007 California sport fishing license. Fishing licenses are not required for anglers 15 years and younger.

No registration necessary! Just catch your fish and enter the required information on our Web site, and your entries are automatically counted toward completing a slam in the Fall Fishing Challenge.

No minimum age. Anyone under 18 years of age must be accompanied to the final drawing by a parent or guardian.

All participants must comply with all California sport fishing regulations.

All fish must be legally caught in California waters. Fish that have been snagged, gaffed, scaled or mutilated are not eligible.

Qualifying species are listed in the ocean (green), inland warmwater (yellow), and inland coldwater (blue) sections of the California Fishing Passport, available from all Department of Fish and Game (DFG) license counter offices, Bass Pro Shops in Rancho Cucamonga, and other selected locations.

All fish must be caught on rod and reel, or divers may use spearfishing gear.

Catch-and-release, where appropriate, is strongly encouraged.

DFG representatives reserve the right to refuse any entry at their discretion. The decision by the DFG will be final.

By entering the California Fishing Passport Fall 2007 Challenge, all participants agree to be mentioned by name in the media (e.g. newspaper, television, radio, Web, etc.) and to allow DFG to use their images for future Passport and other DFG promotions.

Each winner is responsible for paying taxes on any prize(s) won and must authorize the deduction of such taxes, if any, from the prize(s) to the extent required by law.
Awards/PrizesBerkley/Abu Garcia/Stren Tackle Packages ($100 value) or Bass Pro Shops Gift Cards ($100) will be awarded to 60 anglers (20 anglers per slam) selected by random drawings from all anglers that complete the slams.
10 Anglers will be awarded $500 tackle packages or $250 Bass Pro Shops gift cards for completing the entire challenge of all three (3) slams, selected by random drawings from all anglers completing all three slams.
