72nd on Sunday

Saturday I'm planning to get bait of ghost shrimp and Sunday to fish 72nd. If you want to come I'll share what I can. Eagle Claw size 4 baitholder and 1/0 baitholder for ghost shrimp is recommended. I'll be there from 7-9:30 AM. Football is at 10:00. I might stay later as Da' Bears have a late game.

Member or lurker feel free to come along for the ride along

Richard, how can you fish for 2 1/2 hours. Do you really have that willpower? Or are you really that much of a bears fan.

I got the NFL Ticket on DirecTV just to see all of the Bears games. I see other games too, but Bears was the main reason.

I like 2 fish and go home because; it sets a goal, makes me read the best water, reduces any accidental kills since I'm catching less, let's people know there are fish but doesn't overload the beach, leaves time for art, and I leave on a good note.

I can catch 2 very fast and maybe wait 2 hours for another bite, then the day wasn't so fun. Or I can catch 2 very fast and the time was explosive. IMO, like Poker, you have to be able to leave the table ahead and like football, retire on top.

One time there were these 2 grumpy guys that told my rod maker, SYthe Creations, stuff because he was light lining and they had old school thick rods with heavy pyramid sinkers. I saw them later at Cherry and I had a Sythe Creation on me, same blank but different thread colors. They stayed hunkered down and caught some TOMCOD for 4 hours worth of work. I took off for a 5 minute walk before I found what I liked. I caught 2 corbina in 5 minutes, took pics and walked the 5 minutes back. One fish was first cast, first fish. Altogether I think it took 4 casts.

I went up to them to see how they were doing. They asked, "What happened?" I kept one for an elder and showed them that, then showed another from the camera. They had a not so nice look on their face, but I walked away with my SYthe on my shoulder still all strung up. I didn't need to say anything else. It was pure gun slinging, went in got the job done and walked out.

I'm usually with my hair flopping around, half asleep, share bait, mellow at the beach, feel like takin a nap on the sand, and need to put my hand in the water to wake up. They just teased him in a mean way and the pupil avenged the master. I still remember what he looked like. He's a whole lot nicer now though

Ever since then, when alone 2 was just my "lucky number". That one day shaped my whole philosophy.

But with people I do stay longer and catch more. 2 is just my alone thing.

Couldn't get bait because of the rain, off and on, off and on, plus it takes away a lot of the ant hills, plus increase in pollution leads to bacteria....

Anyways, no ghost shrimp. Sorry. Gulp Camo worm is an alternative.

The ghost shrimp bury into the sand looking for food, their legs are like shovels and they have rows of them. They dig up and down searching for food and "company". Their digging looks like ant hills underwater, sometimes just circles, and on the beach when the water passes over them the ant hills turn into pencil holes.
