Alaska Trip 2010
Hey guys, I've been itching to get back to Alaska ever since the first trip we took to Island Point Lodge. I'm hoping this time to do a little more salmon fishing and a little less halibut fishing. This time around, I'd like to also do a fly out trip to a remote lake or spot on a river.
Anyway, I've been able to get some great pricing at a place that is willing to build a package that suits our needs. I'm thinking about going from end of May through end of June or in August. July is the busiest time and is more expensive.
For example, here's one of the basic packages they offer and sample pricing -
Price $1100
7 nights in a cabin, 3 days guided salmon fishing, one floatplane trip, one guided halibut charter, and one river fishing trip. The rest of the time would be un-guided time to fish from shore on the rivers, lakes, or surf.
Package prices range from about $850 on the cheap side with three days of guided fishing to about $1400 which includes five days guided salmon fishing, halibut charter, and guided river trips. All include a cabin.
There's also the option to just rent a water front Kenai cabin that sleeps 6 for $1200/week in June or a special rate of $600/week in May! Then just put together our own fishing packages with individual guides/operators on the Kenai peninsula.
Plane tickets should cost under $800 (cheapest $710 today), rental car (if needed) under $100 per person, and food probably around $75 per person for the week.
If you've ever priced out an Alaska vacation, you know these are super low prices.
The whole trip can be done from around $1100 on a super low side to about $2500 with a bunch of the options. If you're serious about it, you'd need to pay for a plane ticket within the next 90 days to guarantee a good rate.
Let me know if any of you would be serious about going. The more people that go, the cheaper the price will be per person!
