Phoenix 96% Graphite Rod
Ok guys this my review of my Phenix rod. Just thought i'd be the first to put a post up on this forum too!
Phenix 96% Graphite Rod
What's the big deal?
Phenix rod's have been out for quite a while now, but over the past few years they have came into their own. They've made a name for themselves by have great warranties and products that deliver. At first I was skeptical of the rods, especially after seeing the price tag. But after using my buddies rod I was hooked.
Phenix has a few different models, but the one I got was their 6'6" 96% graphite model, which is also a 2 piece. The actual model number is 65 SR TUL. This a great rod for throwing lures, especially mini-jigs and trout worms.
How does it work?
The Phenix 96% graphite rods are very light weight. Compared to my old rod for trout fishing (a Kencor), it feels like you can chuck those lures a mile. The rod is extra sensitive, and I'm finding out I'm feeling bites, that I completely missed before.
How does it look?
To me the rod looks great. I love the rods that you can see the graphite fibers. Personally the matte black finished are boring for me. The rods also come wrapped with black thread, and red trim, which gives the rod that extra touch of class.
Is it worth the dough?
This isn't a rod for a beginner. They start off at around $100 for a 5' and go up to $140 for an 8 footer in the two pieces. If you are wanting to make that step up go for it!
Overall Rating: I give the rod a 5 rating. It feels great, has great sensitivity, and just straight out looks great.
